New developments in Ukraine: grain elevator and dairy farm

The women and men working on farms in the Dnipropetrovsk region now have access to a modern grain elevator, the first owned by a cooperative in Ukraine. With a total capacity of 38,000 tons, this impressive installation became a reality thanks to assistance provided under a project to establish cooperatives for grain storage and marketing, an initiative overseen by SOCODEVI in collaboration with the Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) and IRECUS, a research and educational institute for cooperatives and mutuals at the University of Sherbrooke.

Réjean Lantagne returns to Canada

After completing a four-year assignment to Peru directing the PRODIVCOM project, Réjean Lantagne, former SOCODEVI Executive Director, has returned home to Canada. Réjean, because of his vast experience in international development and his solid understanding of the world of cooperatives, has contributed in a significant way to advancing the efforts we have been undertaking with 25 organizations and their member families across Peru.

Major Investments to improve marketing efforts by cooperatives in Mali

The Ségou, Mopti, Sikasso and Koulikoro agricultural cooperatives receiving assistance under the Feere Diyara project are now equipped with new warehouse and storage facilities and machinery for conditioning and processing crops. This investment of more than CAN $3.2 million was aimed primarily at providing member families of the cooperatives with stronger services for obtaining inputs and for marketing.
