SOCODEVI Acquires FADQDI’s Expertise
La Financière agricole du Québec (FADQ) and Société de coopération pour le développement international (SOCODEVI) are pleased to announce that as of April 16, 2018, SOCODEVI is acquiring the expertise of Financière agricole du Québec – Développement international (FADQDI). According to the agreement between the two Quebec organizations, the ongoing FADQDI projects as well as its team of experts in agricultural insurance and financing will be integrated into the operations of SOCODEVI, which will add agricultural risk management to its service offer.
The FADQ, which has more than 80 years of experience in agricultural financing and 50 years in agricultural insurance, will continue to support the exchange of knowledge internationally by collaborating with the SOCODEVI network.
This transaction will in no way affect the completion of ongoing projects or proposals submitted to donors in which FADQDI is involved. Therefore, FADQDI’s more than 10 years of international expertise and their reputation for honouring commitments, will be ensured by the deployment of SOCODEVI employees who have been providing expertise to the agricultural sector internationally for more than 30 years.
By offering quality products and services in financing, insurance, and income protection, La Financière agricole du Québec promotes the development and stability of more than 24,000 Quebec agricultural and forestry enterprises. In addition, it prioritizes the establishment of young farmers by offering them direct financial assistance that is adapted to their situation. With an insurance value of $3.6 billion and a loan guarantee portfolio of $5 billion, it is actively involved in the economic growth of Quebec and its regions.
SOCODEVI is a network of cooperative and mutual enterprises that shares its expertise and know-how with its partners in developing countries to create, protect and distribute wealth. Created in 1985, the mission of the organization is to contribute to the sustainable development of the countries in which it operates, with the goal of helping people take charge of their own development. SOCODEVI implements innovative solutions for the development of cooperative, mutual, and associative enterprises, specifically in the agricultural sector, which have an impact on the improvement of the population’s living conditions, as well as their social and economic empowerment.
