SOCODEVI Acquires FADQDI’s Expertise

La Financière agricole du Québec (FADQ) and Société de coopération pour le développement international (SOCODEVI) are pleased to announce that as of April 16, 2018, SOCODEVI is acquiring the expertise of Financière agricole du Québec – Développement international (FADQDI). According to the agreement between the two Quebec organizations, the ongoing FADQDI projects as well as its team of experts in agricultural insurance and financing will be integrated into the operations of SOCODEVI, which will add agricultural risk management to its service offer.

SOCODEVI speakers at FYCA 2017 in Colombia

A delegation from SOCODEVI and La Coop fédérée participated in “FYCA 2017”, the International Congress on Agri-food Marketing and Financing, held last October in Cartagena, Colombia. Supported by Colombia’s Bolsa Mercantil, the Colombian Farmers Society, Développement International Desjardins and the Canadian Embassy in Colombia, the event brought together more than 200 representatives and specialists from organizations working mainly in agricultural development, financing, and marketing.

For dynamic and resilient family farms

SOCODEVI participated in the International Symposium on “Food Security and Nutrition in the Age of Climate Change”, an event organized last October by the Government of Quebec, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). More than 200 experts exchanged views on the importance of farming and agri-food systems in the fight against climate change.

SOCODEVI and climate-smart agriculture

The agrifood sector is the focus of many support projects implemented by SOCODEVI. The rural communities that we support have few resources to prepare for climate change, or reduce its impact and adapt to it. For this reason, we take concrete action in our development efforts to reduce the vulnerability of populations to the impacts of climate change and maximize their resilience by enhancing their capacity and thus often mitigating the effects of climate change.
