The SOCODEVI Foundation provides $50,000 in disaster relief to Peru
An emergency fund of $50,000 has been set up by the SOCODEVI Foundation to support four Peruvian agricultural cooperatives seriously affected by torrential rain that recently devastated several communities in that country.
This special donation will quickly be used to revitalize farmer family land parcels through the purchase and distribution of agricultural inputs to allow for recovery and replanting. The operation will be coordinated by the SOCODEVI team in Peru (PRODIVCOM project) in the Ancash and La Libertad regions, the areas most affected by this natural disaster.
Torrential rain hit Peru recently in March causing flooding and landslides that destroyed houses, roads and farms. More than 600,000 people in that country were affected by the storm.
